Where safety and quality service come first

Find out more about how we empower those we serve to explore, take meaningful chances, and live life on their own terms - all while knowing they have a safe, welcoming place to return to.

The team behind EllieB’s is passionate in the belief that – through personalised care, fierce advocacy, and unwavering support – we can truly empower individuals with developmental disabilities to live fully; with dignity, joy, and the freedom to be themselves.

But we also know that looking after your loved ones isn’t only about the warm and fuzzies – we’re also diligent in ensuring all our participants remain safe and receive nothing but the highest quality service.

A little bit about our story

Founded in 1981 as a small house in Salisbury North, EllieB’s offered respite for just five children. Since then, we’ve grown into a trusted not-for-profit and NDIS lifeline for thousands across multiple South Australian locations.

Today, we provide a wide range of specialist disability support services – including:

  • Short Term Respite
  • Supported Independent Living (SIL)
  • Emergency accommodation
  • Recreation & community participation

Across all our services we honour the dignity of risk, empowering those we serve to explore, take meaningful chances, and live life on their own terms – all while knowing they have a safe, welcoming place to return to.

Our mission is simple: create spaces where individuals with developmental disabilities feel safe, understood, and supported.

We understand that no two people are the same, so our care is personalised and designed to meet the unique needs of each individual.

For families, we offer the peace of mind that comes with knowing their loved one is encouraged to live fully, with the perfect balance of independence and support.

We hold ourselves to high account

We proudly support the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

We do this to promote, protect, and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all persons with disabilities and to promote respect for their inherent dignity.

This includes (but is not limited to):

  1. Respect for inherent dignity, individual autonomy (including the freedom to make one’s own choices), and independence of persons
  2. Non-discrimination
  3. Full and effective participation and inclusion in society
  4. Respect for difference and acceptance of persons with disabilities as part of human diversity and humanity
  5. Equality of opportunity
  6. Accessibility
  7. Equality between men and women
  8. Respect for the evolving capacities of children with disabilities and respect for the right of children with disabilities to preserve their identities
