Love, light and loyalty: Meet Lyndell, our Team Leader
We often say, “With EllieB’s by your side, all that’s left to do is smile.” It’s a big promise – and one we make with confidence because of our cherished team members.
Lyndell is that promise of a smile, wrapped up in a Team Leader. Her warmth, compassion and fierce advocacy have been woven into the fabric of EllieB’s for 13 years. Over time, her progression from House Manager to Team Leader has seen her touch the lives of many of our wonderful people and staff alike.
We wanted you to learn a little more about Lyndell and what keeps her at EllieB’s – and to offer an inside look at the incredible people who turn our promise into your reality.
Lyndell’s journey into care began when she was young, supporting her mother while her father required long-term care. She stood by her mother’s side during weekly visits, and when her father needed to move into higher-level care, the management team – having observed Lyndell’s natural bedside manner over the years – approached her about joining the field.
What began as a chance encounter during difficult circumstances went on to transform Lyndell’s life into one of deep purpose and advocacy.
When asked to describe her role at EllieB’s, Lyndell’s conviction was clear: “To make sure (the women in our care) are living happy, healthy lives and achieving their dreams.”
Lyndell considers herself fortunate to primarily oversee five extraordinary women as they build wonderfully ordinary lives under her protective wing.
“I love watching them achieve their goals … I admire them. They’re beautiful ladies,” she said.
Responsible for ensuring the needs of those she cares for are met each day, that their families are welcomed and encouraged to remain involved in their independent lives, and that their dignity is always honoured, Lyndell says it is a role she truly cherishes.
“It’s the best job – in fact, I wouldn’t even call it a job,” she said.
“We just get to spend our days hanging out with these awesome ladies.”
Lyndell’s 13 years with EllieB’s, she says, are a testament to the organisation’s culture and the strong leadership of CEO Wendy Warren.
“I absolutely admire Wendy and the culture – we’re just like a family,” she said.
“We get to make a real difference, build meaningful connections and watch the ladies grow in confidence.”
Leading a women’s home, run by women, Lyndell says the EllieB’s team provides far more than a roof over the women’s heads. They offer protection, belonging and support – stepping in like family when loved ones cannot be there.
“I’m very much an advocate for (the women in my care) – I’m not afraid to speak up for my ladies,” she said.
“The trust and the bond we have is beautiful.”
